Email Integration

To:

ePostings was a strtup specializing in rule-based email filtering.

I build the rule-based engine in pl/sql, an SMTP server in Java that lived inside ORacle (Hard to describe but very effective).

Designed email farm, sorting farm, and storag architecture, along with the usual ERD's and other artifacts of development process.

Problem Definition:

How to effectively manage email for the busy professional.

Approach:
A system which touches many functions requires many protocols: Java, HTML, PL/SQL, PERL, and server architectures were each critical parts of the whole.

Gaming Platform

The multiplayer Samsung online attractions, 'March Madness', 'Slapshot', Basketball, and other games were successfully launched on time, on budget, and without scoring or other errors.

The first was written in java and jsp, the second in server side javascript, native to Samsung's BroadVision application server.

Problem Definition:

Build out a flexible, reusable application framework to accept a variety of flash based sports games with over 100,000 users.

Approach:
As I was working onsite on a reusable application, documentation was absolutely key.

Business Journals

To:

From:
2003

When I arrived on the scene at the Westchester and Fairfield Business Journals, 4-day-a-week employee went live with the web version of these papers the Thursday after Monday morning publication.

Using XML from Quark (later InDesign), a smaller staff was able to generate the full web version of the paper four days before the paper version hit the mailboxes, at a tiny fraction of the cost of a full time employee.

Build out full eCommerce for online paper purchases, integrated with two different vendors.

Problem Definition:

One of those integration problems at which clemandco excels: how to take items and protocols on hand and turn them in a real, working system that saves time and money?

Approach:
Many phases, from initial development of the online papers and scripts, to full ecommerce, metatagging, dynamic publication through much-hacked Drupal instance.

Debt Collection

To:
Present
From:
2002

The firm of Moss Associates came to me to build a system for debt collection to be used by lawyers distributed nationally.

The system logs, assigns, tracks the items, and reports on monthly totals and commissions for users. It generates court papers in Word format, and tracks every call, change in item status, final payments, and even mailing labels for correspondence.

Kind of like a CRM, only with debtors.

Problem Definition:

How do you build a national law firm of part-time associates specializing in debt collection?

Approach:
Full application development, from ERD to application architecture to graphic design to debug to rollout.

Dubbed MEMBER+, the Neta4 solution offers a unique strategy for integrating push, privacy, and personalization technologies into a single unified software package which allows customers to more effectively trade personal profile information for merchant-supplied benefits and discounts. Using MEMBER+, Web-based merchants will be able to deliver product and service related promotions direct to customers on a one-to-one rather than an anonymous aggregated basis, helping build brand loyalty and increasing customer satisfaction.

Problem Definition:

How to build a customized, encrypted browsing experience for offline, users, with eCommerce and other features?

Perfect, by the way, for secure invoice presentment, custom catalogs, and a thousand-and-one other uses?

Approach:
Ongoing project, with teams in Jerusalem, San Francisco, and New York.
